This section explains how to manually resolve STOP: 0x0000007B error that appears after removing or reinstalling Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum Edition. This instance of STOP: 0x0000007B is caused by the Prtseqrd.sys UpperFilter driver registry entry which is added by Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum Edition Setup. However, when you uninstall Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum Edition the driver Prtseqrd.sys is removed as well but the UpperFilter entry remains in the registry. Removing the problematic registry entry removes 0x0000007B error from your computer.

  1. Run Regedit.exe after loading Windows or from the parallel Windows installation of Windows

  2. Click the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE key.
  3. Enter the File menu and click Load Hive.
  4. Open the %SystemRoot%\System32\Config folder of the original Windows installation (is you are currently using parallel instalation), click the System file, and then click Open.
  5. Type test in the Load Hive box and then click OK. This action will load the original Windows installation System hive as a subkey of the current HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE registry key named “test”.
  6. Click the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\test\ControlSet001\Control\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
  7. In the right window of Registry Editor, click LowerFilters, and then choose Delete on the Edit menu. When prompted to confirm deletion click Yes.
  8. In the right window of Registry Editor, click UpperFilters, and then choose Delete on the Edit menu. When prompted to confirm deletion click Yes.
  9. Click the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\test\ControlSet001\Control\Class{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
  10. In the right window of Registry Editor, double-click UpperFilters.
  11. Delete the PrtSeqRd entry In the** Value** data box and confirm deletion by clicking OK. When prompted to delete the empty string, click OK.
  12. Click the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\test\ControlSet001\Services. Change to 4 the Start value of the services corresponding to the registry subkeys listed below.

To do so, choose a subkey, double-click on Start in the right window of Registry Editor, type 4 in the Value data box, and then click OK to confirm the change. The subkeys: Cdr4xp, Cdralw2k, cdudf_xp, dvd2K, mmc2K, PrtSeqRd, pwd2K, UdfReadr_xp

  1. Now return to step 5. You’ll have to locate all the other registry keys named according to ControlSet00x pattern (like ControlSet002 or ControlSet003)

under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\test\ registry key. 13. Follow the steps 5 through 12 for the ControlSet00x subkeys under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\test\ registry key.

  1. Unload the test registry subkey (Click test and on the File menu click Unload Hive). Click Yes when prompted to confirm the unloading.

Quit Registry Editor, and then restart Windows installation that was displaying 0x0000007B error and see if 0x0000007B disappears.
